Horror and Dark Fantasy Writer

What's in a Name?
For some a name is as simple as a word. Yet, for others, a name is difficult and important to claim. Ever since finding the name that feels right, Khala Grace continues striving for a life filled with art. Their craft of choice is nonetheless storytelling. Khala Grace is a horror and dark fantasy author with a love for the written word. Once they almost gave up their dreams, but an opportunity to weave Khala's first published book changed the tides. Two authors have inspired their love of stories: J.R.R. Tolkien and Gerald Brom. As time passes, Khala deems to forge their own creative voice. They deem to share tales that not only entertain but provide readers with more room for thought. As stories have always been present in Khala's life at an early age, it only makes sense to create magic from their bittersweet past.

Yet, as his journey continues, Umlingo finds himself caught in a captive situation- yet, how will he escape?

But as he accepts an urgent load before dawn, everything changes.

Gore 5: Curses
September 2025
Enjoy the next installment of Gore! The new anthology features a timeless concept: curses. As the summary reads the series focuses on people and objects that carry a curse. Some are powerful enough to alter the lives of those around them or bring unimaginable horror and violence on anyone who dares meddle in their existence.
Khala's contributions to the edition are 'The Cursed Case' and 'Mind your Mind.' The first features paranormal detective, Daniel Sykes as he relies on an unexpected source to solve the missing person's report. The second tale is inspired by a particular character... We will not say who! Yet, invite you to join Chauncey Graemes as he faces a break in his typical routine.
Queer Joy: An Anthology
November 2025
This anthology was created as a campaign to spread awareness of the crackdown that's happening to danmei writers. For more information, visit @savedanmeiauthors.
You can expect both fantastical and more realistic fiction and poetry within this anthology. Our vision was to create an anthology encapsulating various kinds of queer joy from around the world.
Khala's short story 'Pulse' is a snapshot into the concept of a star-crossed pair. Spencer is a chill surfer who happens to feel an earthquake- when investigating, he finds a space ship! Yet the survivor is an unexpected... centipede?

Through Wilds & Warnings
December 2025
Destined blades and sharpening tongues.
Eloquent melodies and dangerous trials.
Fearsome fangs and fashionistas.
These are the impressionable tales that shape our morals and weave the lessons that guide us through the trials of life. Through Wilds & Warnings is a collection of fantasy stories inspired by the classic fables of Aesop. Dive into goblin caves, dabble with dragons, and face your darkest fears in this collaborative collection written by talented storytellers.
Khala's pieces include, 'The Forest was Quiet' and 'Sea Change.' Both pieces feature a Wandering Soul that could very well be either you or me. What all living things experience is transition. How will that change fare with unexpected encounters?

Dark Descent
Vol: 19
December 2025
WHEN THE SEASON LINGERS
The season has passed, but its habits remain. Decorations vanish, routines return, and still something feels unfinished. Kindness has edges. Traditions leave marks. These stories sit in the quiet aftermath, where warmth is memory and whatever followed you home hasn’t decided where to stand yet.
Khala's poem, 'The Man in Red' expresses the issue of trust. An age old concern of strangers performing as figures of myth that take advantage of a child's bliss.

PUZZLING PUZZLE
June 2026
Sixteen-year-old Brycen has always understood patterns better than people.
After his grandfather’s death, Brycen inherits a strange box of mismatched puzzle pieces, what begins as an obsession slowly becomes something far more disturbing. The pieces don’t fit. Each one belongs to different puzzles entirely. It seems impossible, as not a single piece connects. Yet the longer Brycen works, the more he feels something pulling him toward an answer buried just beyond understanding.
While Brycen isolates himself deeper inside the growing maze of pieces, his mother, a CDC virologist, becomes entangled in a terrifying global crisis. Pregnancies are collapsing worldwide. Human reproduction itself is failing. And buried inside blood samples are traces of an unknown mammalian genome, unlike anything ever discovered.
As governments scramble for answers and society edges toward panic, Brycen begins to realize the puzzle is more than cardboard and ink. It is a message. A map. Perhaps even a warning left behind long before the world began to unravel.
And it just may be:
The future of humanity depends on someone the world never expected to understand it. Someone who can see more than just what is presented before him as normal.

Dark Descent
Whispers from Beyond
Vol 26
July 2026
You made it to the end. Or something that looks like the end.
The best horror doesn't finish when the last page turns — it follows you into the kitchen at 2am, sits at the edge of your bed, stands just outside the frame of every mirror you pass for the next three days. If that's already happening, good. That means it worked. There's more where this came from. Back issues of Dark Descent, waiting in the dark for the right reader. Our anthologies — Whispers From Beyond and Ethereal Nightmares — for those who don't just want a scare but want to live inside one for a while.
Khala's narrative poem, A Longing Heart, presents thought towards the cruel nature of humanity. The speaker is among the remaining humans. Will they give up hope or find a spark left worth kindling?

"Your dreams are your spirit, your soul, and without them you are dead."
